This I Believe
Sheila Sims Iding
This I believe…
Fathers know best…at least my father.
My mom taught me lessons fighting her disease that most moms can’t teach.
Manners are important…and not optional. Respect isn’t optional either.
Apples should be shined. So should spikes before a double header.
Compassion is a virtue…use it. Even for that ant on the sidewalk.
Sentimentality comes with a price…pay it. It’s worth the emotional fee.
Peaches are best right off the tree…don’t even wash them. Just eat them.
Hope for the best…expect the worst…and do the best with whatever comes.
Sick people are a privilege to care for. You get to do God’s work on earth.
Dying people are an honor to walk with. You get to help them journey home.
Children are a gift from God. All children. All gifts. Never forget.
There is a tremendous responsibility in caring for children. Embrace it!
When you parent do the best you can everyday and then forget it.
If you did your best that very day…you did all you could.
Same for teaching. Just give your best. That’s all you have.
You should know how to care for pet…and how hard it is when they die.
Hugs should be often and enveloping. Never pass up a chance to hug a kid.
Prayers should be said on your knees…especially if life knocks you off your feet.
Always hustle, play with pride. Coach’s orders…always hustle…play with pride.
When the work gets hard…just work harder. No excuses. Ever.
Bad food is good. Hot dogs. Steak with a bit of fat. Cake. Good, good, good.
Don’t ever be ashamed to cry real tears…happy or sad. Don’t cry alone.
Family is family. You don’t get to choose them. They are from God. Enough said.
Religion is just a relationship with God. Don’t complicate it or dissect it.
Don’t worry about finding God. You’re not lost. He’s been with you all along.
Your life has meaning and you will live forever.
If you get a better deal than that, take it!!! (I borrowed this quote.)
Children giggle every day. We should giggle more often. Giggle now.
Sparkly snow, fireflies and the pinkish/orange of a sunrise are gifts from God.
(I think He was showing off when He created these.)
Simple pleasures are God perks that He scatters in your day to help you
Home is a gathering place, a healing place, a comforting place…wherever you are.
If not for hope the heart would break. Keep hope in your heart.
Someone has to care. Someone has to help. Someone has to believe. Be the one.
We are all in this together. Together is a good place to be.
