Sheila Sims Iding - I am A Writer! (They made us say this during class. I liked the sound of it.)
June 30, 2011
This summer I have been honored to be part of the Red Cedar Writing Project at Michigan State University. It is an intense class where teachers are immersed in writing for 4 weeks all day long. The purpose of the Red Cedar Writing Project is three-fold: to help teachers become better writers; to help teachers become stronger teachers of writing; to help teachers become more effective leaders. We are halfway through this amazing experience and I am overwhelmed and humbled but thrilled to be a Spartan (at least for 4 weeks) and to be part of this special group of teachers/ writers/leaders.
In class at MSU (I love saying that), we do so much writing everyday in many different genres. Some of you have asked me to share my writing so I will post some of my projects on this site. I will give an explanation at the beginning of each one explaining the purpose of the writing. I sit among some pretty amazing writers in this class and I am humbled by their brilliant work. My work isn't brilliant or spectacular but it is my own. They write elaborate stories with eloquent words and sophisticated story lines. I just write about life and the people, the places, the things and the faith that make my life so blessed...so very blessed. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into my summer project...my writing...my life. Enjoy!
